star Chris Parnell has promised there’ll be less of a wait for season 5 as the team get ready to get schwifty with the return of season 4.
The much-loved animated series has become known for keeping fans waiting in between seasons, with more than two years passing between season three and the latest installments.
But thankfully, knowing 70 episodes were given the go ahead back in 2018, the show is going to be around for a while – and the team have already been cracking on with them.
Chris, who plays dad Jerry in the series, has reassured fans they won’t have such a long break after the next batch of episodes ends.
Talking about creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland, Chris told TVLine: “[Dan and Justin] wanted some job security, and they wanted to know that the show was going to be around for a while so that they and the writers could get into some sort of momentum.
‘We’ll see less lengthy breaks between seasons going forward because of that. And it’s very gratifying to know we’re going to have all those episodes.’
‘Hopefully Jerry will be around for the duration. You never know,’ he added.
The series returns tonight (Sunday 3 May) in the US, and will air on Thursday 7 April in the UK – meaning fans won’t have to wait longer than they need to over here in Dear ol’ Blighty.
The episode, Never Ricking Morty, continues the show’s theme of playing on famous film titles – and we’ve already given our first thoughts into what we thought of it.
The ‘other five’ episodes of season 4 promise to be as bonkers and meta as ever, leading through to it’s finale – Star Mort Rickturn of the Jerri.
No prizes for guessing it’s a Star Wars reference there… but with Jerry’s name involved, is something going to happen to him?
‘I would guess so,’ Chris teased. ‘It sure sounds like it.’
returns on 7 May at 10pm on E4.
